Yee Hong’s new vision is to provide elders with a variety of housing service types. This project is an extension of the existing long term care facility into a full continuum of care. 250 independent living units and 120 retirement homes are proposed on top of new dining and community amenities.
The rising costs of land and a desire to retain as much of the ground level as open green space led to the design of two high buildings. This allowed for the creation of two main outdoor areas. a public plaza on the corner of Mavis Road and Father D’Souza invites pedestrians and residents to sit and relax in the shade. A generous courtyard between the buildings arranges the ground and second floor.
