Richlane L'Avenue des Bistros

Toronto, Canada | 1995

This retail building sits atop the crest of a hill and serves as a landmark along a major north-south arterial road within the Greater Toronto Area. This project houses 17 loft-like retail spaces with two large anchor tenants at either end. An efficient below-ground parking garage was integrated into the structure to take advantage of the topography of the site.

An exposed steel interior was carefully detailed to work with the retail galleria serving these units. The subtle arch of the galleria is visible from a distance and echoes the crest of the hill. Semi-translucent insulated panels were used within high retail spaces to maximize the amount of daylight while minimizing heat gain and glare from the southern exposure.
